  • Santa, can you hear me?

My favourite time of the year is here again! Christmas is what I liveeeeee for! It's the only thing that keeps me going! To know that despite all the crap that happens throughout the year, I have something to look forward to at the end of it! Christmas, to me, is beyond magical - spiritually and emotionally. It makes me happy!

And Christmas never fails! Every year, we have the most awesome Christmas parties!

We spent Christmas eve at our place this year. We had the whole Christmas feast - gigantic turkey, ham, roast beef, log cake etc. It was sumptuous! God I love Christmas food! We exchanged presents after dinner and I went to meet Mel and the rest at OLPS church for midnight mass! Midnight mass is another thing I look forward to everyday of my life! I love seeing everyone all dressed up in church. In Singapore, most of the time people just go to church in berms and t-shirts, but Christmas eve midnight mass is the only time where the guys are in suits and girls all in fancy dresses! I love it! And I love the carols, and the atmosphere. Beautiful!

Ryan and Mel came back to my place after mass for a little while for some leftover Christmas foods. And after they left, we had our usual drinking games.

This year's annual Seet family Christmas party was at my Godpa's place. And finally, we get to meet our teeny tiny nephew again! Baby Deklen is adorable!! Such a chubby baby with the biggest tummy tum tum! We did our gift exchange and my favourite part - caroling!!! Videos below!

I took off from the Christmas party early to head down to Jordan's place all the way at Pasir Panjang. Honestly, before that, I didn't even know where Pasir Panjang was. Lol. I just know Jordan lives near Haw Par Villa. HAHA!

The whole gang was there. My boss was there too. We had fun! I especially had fun watching Kane decipher my handwriting. It's some kinda personality quiz thing. I don't know how much of it I believe, but I do know Kane's predictions were pretty accurate! But I think it's a very generic thing. Kinda like horoscopes. I don't know. I'm a skeptic when it comes to this kinda stuff.

But the good part of the night came as people got more and more drunk. Or specifically, this one guy that drank 4 cans of beer and got so smashed. By the end of the night, it was just a couple of us left, and we all just gathered round and mindfucked the poor drunk boy by telling him various random things to confuse him. Lol! We ended up having drinks at a nearby coffeeshop before heading home.

And the conversation that followed the next day was equally amusing:

    HAHA!

Had loads of fun the next day with my KC babes too! Our annual gathering! No one got wasted this time around though! Haha!

Christmas was awesome! 8 more days of Christmas to go! And now, I'm looking forward to the New Year's Eve party with my favouritest people in the world!!! I foresee lots of people getting drunk. Probably even more than last year! Omghhkp! So excited!

And what's even more fantabulous is the fact that I'm on leave for a weeeeeek!! The office is closed till next year! Woots woots! One whole week to slack off!

    ****************

I've got my sight set on you, and I'm ready to aim.

  • Happy birthday Jesus! Jesus I love You!

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESUS!!!

  • Eve of the eve!!!

The week has been extra exciting! Christmas Eve is tomorrow! My favourite time of the year! Every time Christmas ends, I just look forward to Christmas the following year! I don't like Chinese New Year, or any other festive holidays. But I love love loveeeeeee Christmas! There's just something about it that's so jolly and happy! Of course, it's the coming of my Saviour, but apart from that, I think it's also the cold weather, and the lights, and just the festive cheer!

So in light of Christmas, Mel had a caroling session last Saturday, and a couple of us tagged along!

It was great fun! We were at Jurong Point, and a home for the intellectually disabled. I gotta say it was kinda uncomfortable at the beginning. I mean, to be surrounded by people who were 'different' from you. But after a while, you realise that they're not dangerous. Yea, they throw tantrums (some were fighting during the caroling session) but they're soooo sweet! They may be intellectually disabled, but they have feelings too! I had fun interacting with them.

    ***************

The next day, I awoke bright and early to attend my Grandma's baptism at some Methodist church in Bishan. I don't mean to be offensive to anyone or any beliefs, but if I had a choice, I will never attend another Methodist church service again.

I'm not against their practices or anything. I mean, hey, I may be Roman Catholic and they may be Methodist, but at the end of the day, we praise the same God and we spread the same message of love. So I have nothing against the other Christian groups.

I'm just not used to the way they worship I guess. Firstly, the 'homily' (well, Catholics call it a 'homily', I don't know what the Methodist calls it) was soooo long! I swear to God half of the congregation was asleep. Myself included. I tried so hard to stay awake, but I just couldn't! My Dad was asleep, my nephew was asleep, my Uncle and Aunt was asleep, the guy in front of me was asleep. It was terrible.

But anyway, after that, my Uncle bought us lunch, and then we went shopping around town. I left to go meet the cousins and friends for dinner at Tampopo! We were all there to welcome Jimi back from Sydney. Lol. And Tampopo never fails to amaze me! The ramen there is mouthwatering.

And after dinner, half of us went to go eat the famous Tampopo Deli milk pudding. I actually dragged everyone to go eat it because the last time Thomas, Kirsten, Mel, Ryan and I went there, it was too late and the stall was closed. So this time around, we were all so psyched that the stall was finally open.

Then as a form of exercise (pssh, as if), Stace, Stiff, Aaron, Sherwin and I walked from Clarke Quay all the way to City Hall trying to get a cab. Lol. In the end, a bunch of us took the train and bus. But along the way, we met some friends:

    ******************

Ryan, Mel, Raynie and I went to Udders on Saturday. Hehe.

    *******************

Stiff, Stace, Aaron, Sherwin, Val and I went to Nandos on Monday night! Omghhkp I've been wanting to try Nandos for the longest time! But it's always packed with people so I never had a chance. But then the other day my Dad came home and started boasting about how he tried Nandos and it was soooo good. So I was determined to make it my turn too. Lol!

Ok so it wasn't like, omghhkp delicious fantastic, or anything. But it was gooooood! It could be that we were just too hungry, but either ways, I enjoyed it so much! We totally cleaned the entire plate up. I wanna go back!

We couldn't get enough of JB, so we went back! This time, a much smaller group - Ryan, Mel, Mel's parents, Edwin, Me, and my parents. It was much easier to get around. And we often broke up into smaller groups, so it was more convenient too.

We had sooo much fun! And if you can't understand how much fun we had, watch this:

By the end of the day, we were beyond tired, but so satisfied with all the stuff we bought, and food! It was awesome awesome awesome!

    ****************

The next day, we had a gig for International Migrants' Day. Gotta admit it was a pretty last minute thing. We spent weeks practicing for the International Volunteer's Day gig at Marina Barrage, we kinda scrapped through the practices for International Migrants' Day. Confused yet? Haha.

Well, we had loads of fun. It was great watching the migrant workers enjoy themselves so much! They were dancing and singing along, and honestly, that was the best part! They deserve nothing but the best!

And of course, when we have waiting time, we do crazy stuff. Which would explain the video below. Lol! After the gig, Mel, Ryan and I went to a fencing competition organized by the YMCA! Yes! Fencing! Omghhkp! I never knew fencing could be so exciting! I was so intrigued by the whole sport! We stayed till the competition ended and went to meet Thomas again for dinner and coffee.

    ******************

Edwin tagged us in some of the 'professional' photos taken by the 'professional' photographers at IVD!

I swear, the Singapore Flyer et cetera in the background looks painted in! Makes the whole picture look so damn awesome! I love it! And click here to view more photos from IVD (includes Corrinne May pictures)!

And oh! Remember how I promised a outtakes video from IVD? Yes! I finally edited and uploaded it! So enjoy!

    ******************

My new Kate Spade wallet is better than you!

    **************

I am so exhausted. It has been a trying week at work. Many things happened. Not to me directly, but I feel bad for the people involved. Oh wells. Whatever the case, next week is my last week of work for 2010!! We're on leave from the 24th of December onwards, and the office will reopen again in 2011! I have some time to rest and relax!

So I guess the fact that I need to wake up early this weekend shouldn't affect me so much. Lol.

Anyways, I actually just got back from a Christmas concert at OLPS Church! I met up with Mel, Thomas and Kirsten at Tampines after work. We grabbed some food, then headed down to OLPS for the Christmas concert that Ryan was in! Ryan and the rest of the boys - Josh, James, John Paul, Emmanuel. The concert was awesome! Or rather, the band was awesome! Ryan is truly my guitar hero! Haha!

After the concert, we went for supper, and now I'm here. Shagged and sleepy.

AND and and.... I still need to get up early tomorrow morning 'cause Ryan, Mel and I are going Christmas carolling! Woohoooo! Haha. We're visiting various malls and homes for the disabled! It's gonna be a blast!

And of course, Jimi aka Jimi Jumpersuit aka the apeman will be back from Sydney on Sunday. I can't believe it's been a year since we last saw him! Man... one year ago!

One year ago, 4 of my cousins were still unmarried. One year ago, I only had 1 niece and nephew (now I have 2 more)! One year ago, that jerkface was still in our lives. One year ago, I was jobless. One year ago, I was band-less. Hahaha.

Ok ok, I'm not gonna get all soppy and emo over this. One thing that hasn't changed though, is that one year ago I was happy.... one year later, I still am! Praise God!

And just for nostalgia sake, this was one year ago when Jimi was in Singapore for the wedding! And of course, before Charissa and Melchor moved to Sydney.

So we're finally gonna be seeing Jimi again this Sunday! We're heading to Tampopo for dinner! Best ramen ever! Can't wait to see the whole gang! And can't wait to introduce Jimi to the new additions to our huge entourage - Thomas, Edwin and Val! Wheeeee!!!
  • I’m just wondering, why do you act like you care? You don’t. You might care about me as a friend, because yeah, that’s what friends are supposed to do. But you seem jealous and bothered when I say something so subtle.

So tell me, why do you act like you care?

  • International Volunteer's Day.

Sorry for the short hiatus, but I've been busy busy busy! As busy as a bumble bee! I've been working, and after work I've been heading out for band practice la dee daaaaa...... All for the sake of International Volunteer's Day (IVD) last Sunday! And I'm proud to say that The Accidental Wakeup left our mark at the concert and rocked the house!

It was amazing! The Marina Barrage was packed packed packed! Rumour has it that there were 8000 people there that day. I don't think there were that many people, but people were streaming in and out continuously!

Personally, I think my band did awesome. Honestly, we weren't the best sounding band. There were bands performing after us that had power vocals. Compared to them, we were amateurs. However, I think what we brought to the concert was energy, which is something The Accidental Wakeup prides ourselves upon. We want to bring energy wherever we go. And that applies to even private gatherings, where it's just the 6 of us and we make each other laugh so much we all end up crying.

So yes, we may not have been No Doubt or U2, but we were us! The Accidental Wakeup! And we had our very own little fanclub! Which was awesome!

Thank you and a special shoutout to the Seet clan and company who braved the sun and made it down to watch our performance! Thank you for screaming the loudest, for singing along to our songs, laughing at our jokes (albeit being the only ones) and just having fun! Watching you guys enjoy the performance was enough for us! We have the best family and friends in the world!

And speaking of braving the weather, I would like to thank the Big Guy up there for giving us the best weather we could ask for! God knows it has been raining for days, endlessly. It even rained on Saturday, when we went for our soundcheck. But we all prayed. We prayed silently in our hearts, and also prayed at the venue, and lo and behold! The moment we started praying, the rain stopped! All in God's grace! And true enough, when Sunday came, not even a drop of rain! Praise God!

I had a little incident though. Before the performance, I was all psyched and pumped up. The moment I got on stage, I was nervous as hell. But once the music started, I forgot all about the anxiety and did my best. The moment our act was done and we got off stage, I had the worst tummyache! Must be all the nerves and butterflies in my belly. But I was good by dinner time! The entire bunch of us went to Seletar for buffalo wings!

I actually have another video coming up. Random videos that we took before and after the performance. But I have yet to view the videos properly and edit them yet. So those would have to wait! I'll put it up soon though! So stay tuned!

Oh! And if you have yet to join our Facebook group, WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU WAITING FOR?! And if you haven't read our WordPress blog yet, WHY?!

We update regularly, so do check us out on Facebook and WordPress, as well as Youtube!

    ****************

So, yes. Speaking of soundcheck. Before our performance at IVD last Sunday, we had to go down to Marina Barrage the day before on Saturday for a soundcheck. And we met Corrinne May there! She's also one of the performing artiste at IVD. Val got so excited and I helped her snap a picture with Corrinne May. Haha!

But wait! There's more! We did our soundcheck before Corrinne May. So she was kinda like waiting for us to get off stage. When we did, Corrinne May's band came up to Ryan and told him that we did a good job! OMGHHKP!!!!! Can you believe it?!

After the soundcheck, we met up with Sherwin and Nat for dinner at Vivocity. Food Republic is a frickin' rip off. I just had to get it off my chest. FOOD REPUBLIC IS SO EXPENSIVE!

Anywayssss, after dinner, Nat and Edwin left, so the rest of us went over to my Uncle's house to chill. It was my little cousin's birthday party, and I had to be there. But I really wanted to hang out with the band and Sherwin, so I invited them to the party! Haha.

    *****************

Oh, and these are just random pictures from a couple weeks back! No wait, actually it's just last Tuesday. Haha. Ryan picked me up from my office after work, and we went to meet the rest of the band for dinner before band practice at Shin Studio.

And my Dad just bought me the new Flip Mino HD high definition video camera as an advanced Christmas present! So I brought the Flip camera along to band practice last Tuesday to test it out. I really like the quality! Actually my Canon camera takes HD videos as well, but it zaps up all my memory space and battery life. So I decided a separate video camera would be better. Plus, I saw David Choi using it, and it was kinda unexpected because the quality was so good.

    Anywayssss... video!

Gonna be meeting the band again tomorrow night for another jamming session! We have another gig this Sunday that I don't know much about. Oh wait, just as I typed that sentence, I received an email from Thomas with the gig details! Haha! We're playing for the International Migrants' Day party organized by Migrant Voices and TWC2.

Exciting! And we're having a band trip down to JB again this Saturday! Woots woots shopping!!!! Mel and I are gonna attack cheap makeup. Ryan and Edwin can go on a date. Lol!

    ******************

"His name is Kevin and the other's his Dad and they really like to dance!
So grab your things and come on by 'cause were Getting Jiggy with the Jumbas!"

Hahahaha! And at 02:43 - "Kevin! 他妈的! 不要丢我的东西好不好!" LOL! I love Team Jumba!

(And I realise alot of people won't get the 'You ain't got no pancake mix!' reference. So watch this. HAHA!)

And since we're on the topic of youtube, I just found out that Natalie Tran was in Singapore. SHE WAS IN SINGAPORE! And you know what the thing is? The thing was that I knew it! As in, I suspected it! I mean, I subscribe to her channel on youtube, so when I saw this:

When I saw this, I was like: "That looks alot like Singapore." And guess what?! It was Singapore! If you wanna watch her Singapore video, click here.

    -Abrupt end to post-
  • Repercussions.

The highlight of my week would have to be Mathilda's launch party on Tuesday! God knows I've been working so hard on this project, and to see it not only come to life, but so successful just makes me want to scream my heart out!

When I first joined this company, this was my very first project - producing Mathilda's music video. It took many months, but we finally filmed the music video. And just when I thought it was all over..... it wasn't. We had to plan a launch party to launch the music video. I couldn't sleep the whole of Monday night thinking of all the different ways this could screw up. After all, I've never planned a big scale launch party before, and we're not an events company. What did we know about planning events?

But hey! We pulled it off! Not only did we pull it off, the launch was a HUGE success! And I know this may not be a big deal to anyone else, but it is to me! To see something you've been working so hard on produce such amazing results is the greatest feeling ever! And to have people actually come up to me, pat me on the back and tell me that I've done a good job made everything worth it. Most of all, to have my boss go up on stage and say 'good job' to me in front of everyone was tear-jerking!

We had our launch at the Bellini Room, Mathilda performed, and we all had fun!

And what made my night even more special was the fact that I had my band there with me to celebrate:

The band was invited to be part of the launch party, and I was so happy to have them there! And much thanks to my band for all the support and words of encouragement! Love these guys so much!

    *****************

Had our weekly band practices this Wednesday. We were at Beat Merchants again for a second week. They gave us the most awesome room last week, but this week... bleh. Watch the video below and you'll understand why.

Forgive the bad sound quality. I don't wanna be one of those people who blame the equipments, but the mics were really bad. And we couldn't hear ourselves at all. And we're not exactly professionals, so yes, it does affect us. And the bass amp was faulty. It kept making funny screechy noises.

Well, can't wait for practice again next week! One more week to our performance at International Volunteers' Day at the Marina Barrage! Rumour has it that there will be a crowd of 5000! Omghhkp. I'm so gonna pee my pants. Plus! I heard Corrinne May will be performing too. Stress!

    ******************

Oh how I wish I could hang out with these people! They look like they have so much fun together! I also wanna hang out with Kevjumba, Ryan Higa and of course WONG FU PRODUCTIONS! Haha!

Cathay Nguyen looked so gorgeous in this video! And omghhkp David Choi was adorably retarded at the end. Made my day! And if you look closely, you'll realise that the person who sits on the far right has to wear both the black and red glasses! Lol!

  • Square one.

    Sometimes love comes around
    And it knocks you down
Just get back up when it knocks you down
  • Speak Now.

For you, I would have done whatever
And I just can't believe we ain't together
And I wanna play it cool
    But I'm losin' you
    I'll buy you anything
    I'll buy you any ring
    And I'm in pieces
    Baby fix me
And just shake me til' you wake me from this bad dream

  • Through the years.

I finally had a chance to go visit the Clinic at Boat Quay last Saturday! Haha. The 5 of us headed down to Tampopo at Liang Court for the best ramen ever! Then we decided to venture into Boat Quay and had a drink at the Clinic. The place there is overpriced though. We had some cranberry alcohol thingy in a drip bag, and that shit caused $50. Well, at least I can say that I've been there, and I'll probably not go back!

    ******************

So as a Catholic ever since I was a kid, I had to attend bible classes every weekend. So typically, a young Catholic child would have to go to church for Sunday school or catechism classes. However, in my case, I was kinda 'home-schooled'. Instead of going to church for catechism classes, a bunch of other kids and I would go to a catechist's home every Saturday afternoon for class. It was called 'home catechism', and because we were located in Bedok, we were called 'The Disciples of Bedok'.

Looking back, home catechism classes were mad fun. Because we were not located in a church, classes were always more flexible and fun as compared to church catechism. There are lesser children in each primary level, for example in my case, there were only 5 students in my class for all 6 years.

Pity, home catechism stops when you graduate from Primary 6. After that, you graduate from home catechism and have to switch to a church to complete your bible studies. And that's how I know that home catechism is so much more fun than church catechism.

Anyways, after 21 years, 'The Disciples of Bedok' are retiring. No more home catechism. So they threw a huge reunion party, and as part of the alumni, my parents and I were invited.

I'm really glad I went. I haven't seen some of my batchmates in years. We're connected on Facebook, but there's as far as we go. It's nice seeing everyone again.

'The Disciples of Bedok' Alumni. Grew up with these people, but haven't seen them in years!

    Alumni + present kids.

That's damn alot of people, I know. I really do miss home catechism loads. I always thought of putting my future kids in home catechism too, but I guess now they would have to go to an actual church! Haha.

With Auntie Helen, my parents and Auntie Faith (the founder of home catechism).

For party favours, they gave out homemade rosaries and a DVD filled with pictures from past to present. And just for nostalgia sake, I screen-captured some of my pictures in the DVD. LOL. Go on... laugh till your hearts' content.

Okay, this isn't a picture of me, but my Dad. On the far right, holding the 'N'. I was on the other side.
I don't really remember what occasion this was. But I think we were performing for an orphanage?
We were dancing to 'Lemon Tree'! Old school eh?

I'm the second person on the far right.
This was..... Maundy Thursday! Yes! Holy Thursday, the night before Good Friday.
    We were visiting churches!

I don't think I need to point out where I am in this picture.
My first Holy Communion at OLPS!
Here I am with the 4 other kids from my class - Joy, Ryan, Brandon and Marc - some other kids, and the priest.

Okay, this is where I entered the 'awkward phase' in my life. I refused to wear dresses and hated taking photos.
Here I am again with Joy, Ryan, Brandon and Marc.
I don't remember what occasion this was again, but I think it was our 'sending off' ceremony.

    Ahhhhh..... good times.

    *****************

This was how I spent my lazy afternoon on this public holiday:

I miss these kiddos so much! God damn chicken pox that's taking the kids down one by one! Can't wait for it all to be over and for them to be in my arms again! I've accumulated a load of presents that I wanna give them!

    *****************

So once you've watched the video above, you will fully understand why Team Jumba got eliminated from The Amazing Race. It's not 'cause they're slow! It's 'cause Kevjumba made a mistake and they were penalized! Oh wells....

I heard the show's ratings went down by 18% ever since Team Jumba's elimination, simply because all the Team Jumba fans stopped watching The Amazing Race. LOL. Pwned.

    *****************

    I'm obsessed with this song:

And so Chester See did a parody of this song together with Ryan Higa and Kevjumba:

Effing funny!!! And wow, Ryan and Kevjumba sounds good! Lol.
    Watch the bloopers here!

And of course, David Choi joined in the fun.
David's rendition of 'Rocketeer' blew my mind!
And the best part is, all my favourite you-tubers in one video!

Wong Fu Productions, Ryan Higa, Kevjumba, Kina Granis, Chester See and Mystery Guitar Man!
    God I love these guys!
    Bloopers here!
